Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I apply?
    Applications open mid-year for studies/activities to be undertaken the following calendar year. All applications must be on the prescribed form and lodged by the due date – 31 August for major grants and 1 October for minor grants. An applicant must work in Victoria as a nurse or midwife.
  • What are the Terms & Conditions?

  • What is the grant review process?
    Each application is assessed and scored by two Board members. Applications are then ranked. The highest ranked applications are submitted to the full Board for consideration. The Board may request additional information and/or an interview to assist with the final selection. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application in December.
  • Can I apply for more than one grant?
    Yes you can. however you will not be be awarded more than one grant. For minor grants, only one application form should be completed. This will be treated as an application for all minor grants for which the studies/activities might be eligible.
  • I have been offered a grant, what now?
    You will be required to agree to the Terms and Conditions, then complete and return the acceptance form together with your bank details.
  • When will I receive my grant?
    All VNMT payments are progressed in instalments. Full details are outline in our T&Cs Major grants are progressed in 3 payments, and are subject to satisfactory progress reports Minor grants are progressed in 2 payments. 70% of funding allocation will be progressed in March. The final payment will be made on receipt of a satisfactory final report
  • What if my circumstances change?
    You should advise the VNMT secretariat of the change by email or phone 1800 559 136.
  • When will I hear if I have been successful?
    The Board will meet the third Thursday of December. All Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application, after this date.
  • Can I apply for funds to attend a conference?
    In the current COVID environment, the Board will not fund conferences or international travel for 2022.
  • Can someone else apply for a grant on my behalf?
    No, the application must be completed by the intended recipient of the grant.
  • What if I need help to complete my application?

  • Can I renew my registration through the VNMT?
